If you are seeking Habitat Housing, please attend our application meeting at 10 o’clock at the Jefferson County library on March 7th. At this meeting we will explain what the requirements are to become a Habitat partner. Applications will be handed out at this time, you must be at the meeting to receive an application. We are looking for a quailfied family for a three bedroom house in Hanover. If you have any questions, please call our office at 265 9697.

Once aagin our annual Dinner/Auction was a huge success, raising over $23,000. A big word of Thanks goes out to everyone who made this possible, especially to our many donors and to those who bought the items. We also want to thank all the voluteers who worked hard on th1s event, including our board members and the Hanovr College chapter of Habitat who helped serve the dinner. The money raised will help us to continue our mission of providing housing in Jefferson County.

Unexpected Help
After struggling to lift heavy tresses by hand, we were visited by a Angel. A driver from Marksberry Roofing in North Vernon stopped by and volunteered his time and boom truck. We thank him and everyone who has helped us accomplish our mission.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Dupont house was held recently. This location was made possible by the generosity of the town of Dupont which donated the lot on Main Street to Habitat. If you would like to volunteer, we normally work on Thursdays, starting at 10 and on Saturdays at 8. You can also call Debbie Ford, our volunteer coordinator at 873-6390 for more specific information.

During a ceremony on August 2nd, the keys to the remodeled house at 420 Peacock Court were offically turned over to Shawn and Julia Futrell. A large crowd was present and we were blessed with a special song from another habitat family, Melissia and Tevis West. We would like to thank all of our volunteers, donors, and board members that to helped make this project possible.

S.I.S.W.D. DONATES $5,000 and TRUCK
Habitat for Humanity of Jefferson County, recently received a $5,000 check and the the keys to a Isuzu box truckfrom Southeastern Indiana Solid Waste District. The money and truck is to be used to help reduce waste in our landfills by recycling items through the future Habitat Restore. James Rene Stivers and Tom Perotti presented the check to board members, Carol Ann Rogers Mary Ann Cook and Judy Hoffman and Benny Newell.
NORTH MADISON CHRISTIAN CHURCH DONATES $2,500
The missions committee of North Madison Christian Church designated $2,500 specifically to the home being remolded at 420 Peacock Court. A bedroom and handicap assessable bathroom is being added for the Futrell family.
WALMART DONATES $1,000
Walmart has once again helped Habitat to the tune of $1,000. The money was designated to the Restore project.
Thanks to these and all of you in our community who have donated your time and money to help us be successful in fulfilling our mission of bring affordable housing to those in need in our community.

Claude Routon will again be riding his bike for seven days to help raise money for Habitat. He will begin in Evansville on Sunday May the 11th and finish up in Indianapolis on Saturday. Habitat has begun rehabbing a house at 420 Peacock Court at Audubon Park. Besides general clean up, we will be adding a new bedroom and bath to the two bedroom house. Our new partner has a disability and will need handicap facilities. We will normally work on Thursdays and Saturdays. If you would like to help us, please call our office at 812 265 9697.

Habitat will have an application meeting on Saturday February 9th, 10:00 at Dupont firehouse. A this time representatives from Habitat will explain how our program works and answer any questions that perspective partners may have. After the presentation, applications will be handed out.
